This was my first visit to the Harris Grill, home of “Bacon Night”.   I was seated on the second floor facing the window, which had a great view of a run-down building and a few other restaurants across the street.  After a while, I was shock’d and awe’d at the ridiculous number of runners going by.  The sheer volume of runners was so great, I actually overheard a fellow patron joke “They should have named this place Runner’s Grille”.  How wild! The environment was cozy, clean, and kind of relaxing.   My only complaint was being seated next to a family who went as far as bringing an entire tupperware container full of toys for their children to play with. .

Anyway,  I appreciated the variety of the menu and the fact that they had almost 12 beers on tap.   For burgers, they had a few types, but I went with the bacon cheeseburger.

The menu’s description of the item:

I Can Has Bacon Cheezburgher?
Rich, smokehouse bacon and sharp, bitey cheddar atop a manhole cover of grilled beef that’s more than able to satisfy even the most demanding carnivore. $9.77 Put your feet up, kick back with a PBR, and call the gym to cancel your membership.

The title alone was all I needed to see.  I ordered it as is, but swapped the PBR for a Weyerbacher’s Fireside Ale.  The wait was pretty long, especially since there wasn’t much business at the time, but whatever.  After what seemed like a half-hour, I was greeted with this:

The toppings were crisp and fresh, the bacon was perfect, and the meat was cooked to my liking.  Juicy, yet not to the point where the bottom of the bun was soggy and falling apart.  My biggest gripe – the bun.   It was far too large for the size of the burger and wasn’t toasted.

As far as the side item, I wanted to order the fries just to try them out.  There were a lot of options to choose from (namely macaroni & cheese..) that almost led me astray.  I wish I had selected something else, because the french fries were totally forgettable and were only a few degrees away from still being frozen.  I left half of them on the plate.
