Though I’ve eaten at The Library rather frequently, I’ve never actually tried their burger.  This may be due to the fact that it is a relatively new offering – they’ve changed the menu since my last visit.  As you could guess, the entire restaurant (menus, tables, etc) has a literary theme.  This includes the names for their offerings.   The burger:

The Tempest -$8
Half pound seasoned Black Angus ground beef charbroiled. Ask your server for toppings.

I ordered mine medium-well, as I am kind of skeptical of ordering undercooked meat from restaurants that don’t actually specialize in doing so.    Though the menu description doesn’t mention it, the burger also comes with a side.  French fries, sweet potato fries, or a side salad.  The sweet potato fries are really good, but I went with regular fries instead.

After about 15 minutes of waiting, my order arrived.

Check out that mound of burnt cheddar.  The burger was visually appealing, but lacked taste.   It was pretty boring overall.    That’s about all I have to say for this burger.

Burger Ratings:

Burger:  5

The only redeeming factor was the aioli.  Totally unremarkable.  It wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t good.

Side: 8

The fries were awesome as usual, and complimented well with the aforementioned aioli.

Environment: 6

We came in around 3pm during a Penguins game.  The people in the bar were pretty loud but we weren’t bothered by them in the dining area…  and I could still watch the game.   As another bonus, the table top I was sitting at was composed of a comic book featuring a robotic knight.

Value: 5

$8 for the burger and fries.   The value is good, but the burger was just sub-par.
