Alameda Brew House is a brewpub in NE Portland, preparing all of their menu items in-house. They have a few burgers on the menu, including a veggie burger that was ranked 2nd best by Portland Monthly Magazine (but who gives a shit about veggie burgers?).  The menu description of the burger – the non-vegetarian, infinitely more delicious version:

SEVEN-BARREL BURGER

Our seasoned hand pressed ground chuck 1/2 lb. burger served on a fresh bun with lettuce, tomato, and red onion. Add thick cut peppered bacon, cheese, avocado, egg, mushrooms or peppers for an additional .50 per item

I ordered it as-is cooked Medium. The wait time was reasonable, and after 10 or so minutes my plate arrived.

The visual appeal of the burger threw me off initially. It doesn’t look anywhere near as good as it tastes. I was actually glad I decided to try it without cheese, because the flavor of the beef is absolutely delicious.

Burger Ratings:

Burger:  7

This burger is really good. I didn’t really understand the name of the burger, and kept wondering why they named it as such. There should have been onion rings or BBQ sauce, or maybe even a comically small cowboy hat perched atop the bun. I would have even settled for a western-themed plate.

Side: 5

The french fries here are ok. They remind me of the fries at Wendy’s in a way, but they’re not bad.  Not necessarily good, either.

Environment: 8

I’m really into the environment here. I like the overall layout of the place, as well as the option of the pleasant outdoor seating.

Value: 5

The burger and fries are priced at $8.25. I would say that’s pretty average, given the quality. I’ll definitely be back.

  • I agree, this is a hidden gem. I ended up there because I set out for Stanich's, but it was closed that day. I'm happy it was, cause I'll get back to Alameda.
